This commissioned Batik painting is going to Nova Scotia. I was working on it in February in all that cold weather but can only show it to you now as it was commissioned as a surprise and has only just been collected from the Gallery. I'm glad to say they seemed to be delighted with the finished piece which was framed and back-lit. The back-lighting was particularly effective, showing the eery moonlight on the silver birch trees.
This a detail from one of the mirrored pair showing the use of crackle texture in the ancient stones and the palette of 'Venetian' colours I have developed over many years
I made them for myself and now they are now on show in my sitting room. They represent weeks of work and wouldn't be commercially viable to do this size for anyone else - but I love them!
