Well, it's back to work despite the cold ....
.... these chilly, dark winter days have a distinct pattern for me. Each morning, I light the stove in the studio and while it warms up, I do my domestic chores. By the early afternoon, dressed in many layers from my merino wool long johns outwards, it's hopefully warm enough up there to start work . I always say that the wax cracks better in the winter but it is a still good idea for the temperature to be high enough so I can feel my fingers!
It's hard to motivate myself to get back to work after a break but this year I have a commission to complete. As so often happens, I can't tell you what it is yet as it is to be a surprise gift but progress is good and I can report that the Batik is drawn on the cloth and the first colour is on. Ironically, the design I have been asked to do features lots of snow! Brrr ...
At the same time as doing the commissioned work, I am working on a pair of 'Venice' lampshades for myself - those I will be able show you as they progress.
I have now completed the waxing of the stonework and have applied a colour wash to each panel, in my favourite 'Venice' colours
Following the rather too successful Summer and Christmas Gallery shows, there is not a single lampshade left in my house - just bare lightbulbs on lampbases!
